If you watched the Emmy Awards last Sunday night you know that the big winners in the comedy and drama categories were “Modern Family” for laughs and “Homeland” for dramatic thrills. If you missed seeing these top notch shows on TV, fear not–they are now available on DVD.

“Homeland,” according to the New York Times, “…is well made and gripping…almost impossible to resist.” This critically acclaimed series won the 2012 Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Drama and was honored with Emmys in many categories from writing and best dramatic series to acting. Both Claire Danes and Damian Lewis took home the golden statuette for their lead performances in this compelling new TV series.

“The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” is one of the most charming films released in 2012 and it is now available on DVD. The stellar British cast is led by Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy and Tom Wilkinson with young Dev Patel from “Slumdog Millionaire” in the role of the Marigold Hotel owner. (I predict this film will be an Oscar contender in 2013, and deservedly so.)

The story deals with seven cash strapped British pensioners who decide to spend their retirement years in India staying at The Marigold Hotel, described on the Inter-net as the perfect location for senior citizens. However, once they arrive they are shocked to discover that the hotel is not what it was cracked up to be. How they handle their new location and new friends is what makes this comedy so delightful, proving that no one is ever too old to take on a new adventure.

The DVD is filled with many additional features that include: “Behind the Story : Lights, Colors and Smiles” where you will enjoy behind-the-scenes magic and exclusive interviews with cast and crew on the making of the film.
