“R. Hero” statue by local artists Tony and Karen Barone installed in front of the Palm Desert Historical Society
PALM DESERT, CA — The city invites you to the dedication of “R. Hero” on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 9:45 a.m. in front of the Historical Society of Palm Desert located at 72-861 El Paseo in Palm Desert.
“R. Hero” was donated by Jo Ann and Alan Horwitz,Esq, Contour Dermatology, Orbit In Hotel, Palm Springs, through the Karen and Tony Barone Art Adoption program.
“We know the Barone’s and are enamored by the type of artwork they do,” said Alan Horwitz. “It’s a good idea to have something attractive and noticed in Palm Desert, which is a special place in our hearts.” The Horwitz’s are residents of Cathedral City but spend a lot of their spare time in Palm Desert.
“The color of R. Hero is my favorite color, purple, and it distinguishes itself from the desert landscape,” Horwitz added. “My wife Jo Ann and I think the statue is properly located in front of the Palm Desert Historical Society building,” which was also the city’s first fire station.

“R. Hero” stature by Tony and Karen Barone installed outside the Children’s Discovery Museum in Rancho Mirage.
The Barone’s will have another R. Hero statue in green dedicated at the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert in Rancho Mirage on Saturday, Nove. 3 at 2:30 p.m. The popular artistic couple also learned this week that a thir R.
