Edison International Awards $5000 For Healthy Kids, Healthy Families

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA – Thanks to Edison International there will be plenty more Healthy Kids and Healthy Families this week. Food Now, a community food pantry located in Desert Hot Springs, is on the front line on the war against hunger…and some much needed reinforcements are about to come in.

On Tuesday, Oct. 2, Edison International representative Nena McCullough will present Food Now with a $5,000 award as part of Edison’s community outreach Healthy Kids, Healthy Families Program. The money will be used to help fund Food Now’s food distribution program and allow Food Now to continue to wage war against hunger in their community.

“Edison International is such a great partner” said David Johnson, Program Director at Food Now.

“We are truly humbled and elated Edison International deems us worthy of their support. This is a big deal for us. We help over 550 families every week in the fight against hunger. We see firsthand the devastation hunger can have on a family. We are so blessed to be in a position to have a direct impact on our community. Without support from community partners like Edison International, our work would be impossible.”

Food Now is located at 14080 Palm Drive, Suite E. Desert Hot Springs, CA. They distribute nutritionally balanced bags of food at no cost to approximately 550 households, (1,500 individuals) every week. Food is distributed three days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, twice a day, once at 9 a.m. and then again at 11 a.m.
