Benoit Discusses Goals for 2013 at Indio Rotary Lunch
INDIO – New chairman of the Riverside County Board of Supervisors and longtime Rotarian Supervisor John J. Benoit shared his goals for 2013 with the Indio Rotary Club at their lunch on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at the Fantasy Springs Convention Center in Indio.
“This year in Riverside County, we have big opportunities in the areas of health care, economic development, clean air projects and the Salton Sea,” said Supervisor Benoit.
As president of the Indio Rotary Club in 1994, Benoit and his wife, Sheryl, then a Desert Sands school district employee, helped found the Valley-wide Rotary Math Field Day, an annual tradition in which several hundred middle school students compete in mathematical challenges. School districts in the Coachella Valley had been forced to discontinue participation in a similar event held annually in Riverside due to the cost of transportation. The club is coming up on its 19th year of sponsoring Rotary Math Field Day.

Supervisor Benoit represents the Fourth District on the Riverside County Board of Supervisors.
Stretching from the Palm Springs area south to the Salton Sea and east to the Colorado River, it is the largest geographical district in the county. Benoit’s regular office hours are Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
