The 26th Annual Desert Christian Academy Auction Gala was held at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa on March 29th. Magic Johnson was to be the guest speaker, but at the last minute had to cancel due to a family emergency. Luckily, Mr. Robert Griffin III accepted the last minute request to fill in as the guest speaker. Mr. Griffin is a Heisman Trophy winner, and All American Quarterbacks and even a Pro Bowler. He is affectionately known as RG3 by the NFL players and press.

The event started with a cocktail hour and a huge silent auction. The Guests were directed to the ballroom for dinner and live auction. A Prayer started the dinner, and a video presentation was shown telling about Desert Christian Academy and its achievements and goals with Debee Scott, Head of School as a spokeswoman in the video. Raise your Paddle, brought in thousands of dollars that benefited the Tuition Assistance program that enables students to get a Desert Christian Academy education.

A conversation with Robert Griffin III was emceed by Chaplain, Kirk Scott. Mr. Griffin brought several personal items to be auctioned off to benefit the Academy and its programs. Mr. Griffin also bought a Puppy for over $2,200 at the live auction. Griffin answered questions and shared his story of success and faith with the guests. Hundreds of guests filled the ballroom to hear his story.

The Desert Christian Academy has won the Coachella Valley WORLDQUEST contest four straight years and will be headed to Washington DC to compete again this year. This is a huge academic achievement for the School. The Academy strives to empower the Mind and engage the Soul.
