Desert Hot Springs, CA. January 8th, 2015:  The Community of Desert Hot Springs will be taking part in their first ever Unity and Peace Walk in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King.
Beginning at the city’s police station, 65-950 Pierson Blvd. at 10:00 AM on January 19, 2015, the walk will proceed down Pierson Blvd. to Cactus and up First Street to the First Community Baptist Church, 66272 First Street.
Mayor Adam Sanchez and police Chief Maynard along with pastors Tahlib McMicheaux of the FCBC and Kephyan Sheppard of the Word of Life Church are working together to make this happen as a first in Desert Hot Springs.
“Groups of children from all segments of our community will join the adults in the walk at Cactus,” said Nina Duarte, a citizen volunteer on the committee.
“We are expecting close to 400 people, including the children, to participate in this Unity and Peace Walk,” she concluded.
After the community arrives at the church, there will be presentations, a lunch, dancing, and celebratory singing.  The event is free for the entire family.
