JAZZ IT UP WITH ACT (The 6th Annual Jazz it Up Fundraiser with Bill Marx and his All-Star Band)

It was another successful event for Gloria Greer, Founder and Past President of Act for MS ( Multiple Sclerosis). The 6th Annual Jazz it Up Fundraiser with Bill Marx and his All-Star Band held at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage entertained 140 guests with Frank di Salvo charming the audience with ‘sound of Sinatra’ ( remember that mid century favorite, “Fly me to the Moon?) Bobby Darin, Tony Bennett and others from the American Songbook. The event chairs were Ann Greer, Norma Greer Fishkind, Sharon DiHaworth and Bill Marx. Act for MS is a non-profit charity serving as a primary resource for individuals diagnosed with multiple sclerosis by providing the necessities for them, that vary with individuals.
For example, during the summer, ACT assists in paying electric bills for those living with MS since heat worsens their symptoms.
Many businesses in the Coachella Valley contributed to the success of Jazz It Up’s stylish silent auction. Donations ranging from a silver necklace courtesy of Karen and Tony Barone Visual Arts ( their project called Dalmation Nation’s most recent ‘dalmation sculpture’ will be installed at the Children’s Museum in Portsmouth, VA) to a gift for music lovers, tickets to the Virginia Waring International Piano Competition.
Viewed at the event were Lori Sarner, known for her dedication with Pegasus Therapeutic Riding, ( she also has earned a stellar reputation in London for her efforts in implementing therapeutic riding for children and adults there), Gilbert Holmes and Patrick Mundt, global gadabouts, Sheri Okun, Santa Fe artist new to the desert, Dan McGrath, Morning Coffee with Dan, EZ-103.1 FM with his southern belle wife, Regina, Bea Levi, attired in a wispy rainbow ensemble with Dr. Joe King and Robin Montgomery, the desert’s dynamic organizer her next event is Pets on Parade.
While guests sipped lobster bisque, the band played on, there were surprise singers, the last being novelist Grace Robbins, who ended the evening on a high note with Cole Porter’s Oh La C’est Magnifique!
