KMIR, Palm Desert Rotary & CSUSB Hosting Candidates Forum

PALM DESERT, Ca. – The November election is just weeks away…and voters here in The Valley will be making some important decisions, including who will be representing us in Sacramento and Washington.

To help Valley voters learn more about the candidates in the state assembly and congressional races, KMIR, The Palm Desert Rotary and the Palm Desert campuses of the California State University San Bernardino are teaming up to host a candidate’s forum.

The event will be held Monday, October 6th in the Indian Wells Theater on the SCUSB campus in Palm Desert.

The 28th district state Senate race has Riverside County supervisor Jeff Stone running against former assemblywoman Bonnie Garcia.
Palm Desert Rotary is inviting the community to ask questions about the state budget, environmental laws, making the state more business friendly and prison re-alignment.

The other hot race in the valley is our seat in Congress.

Incumbent Democrat Raul Ruiz is being challenged by Republican assembly member Nestande.

Nestande has committed to appear in the forum, but Ruiz has not.

Nestande will be answering questions on immigration and border security, jobs, government spending and the federal budget….And foreign policy.

These topic areas were selected by the palm desert rotary club… But the actual questions will come from you…The public.
We invite you to email your questions to
Rotary will select the questions for the candidates…and if yours is selected, You may be invited to attend the event and ask your question directly to the candidates.
